How to Search the Site

What the Search Covers

RRS.org includes a site-wide search that covers the full text of the Racing Rules of Sailing across all editions — fleet racing, match racing, team racing, kiteboarding, and windfoil — as well as protest decisions published on the site, events, officials, and help pages. A single search finds relevant content everywhere on the site at once.

How to Start a Search

Click the search icon in the upper-right corner of any page on the site. A search box will appear. Type any keyword, rule number, or phrase and press Enter.

Because all rule editions are searched together, a search for overlap returns matching results from fleet racing, match racing, and team racing simultaneously — making it straightforward to compare how the same concept is treated across different sets of rules.

Working With Results

Each result links directly to the relevant rule, page, or record. Click a result to jump to that content, and use the browser Back button to return to your results and explore other matches.

If a search returns too many results, use a more specific phrase or add a second keyword. If it returns nothing, check the spelling or try a synonym — for example, DSQ instead of disqualification, or mark room instead of Rule 18.
