How to Use Launch Sign-Out/Sign-In

What Launch Sign-Out/Sign-In Is

When an event requires Launch Sign-Out, competitors must record when they leave the dock (sign out) and when they return (sign in). This gives the race committee an accurate real-time picture of which boats are on the water — an important safety tool when racing in open water or challenging conditions.

The system records the time of each departure and each return. If you depart and do not sign back in by a certain time, the race committee will know to account for your boat. Your event sailing instructions will state the sign-out policy and the consequences of failing to sign back in.

How to Access the Page

The Launch Sign-Out/Sign-In page is accessed from the public event pages. On the event navigation bar, click Race Operations and select Launch Sign-Out/Sign-In from the dropdown.

The page shows today date and a list of all registered competitors, organized by class, division, sail number, or name depending on how the event is sorted. Each competitor row shows Depart and Return buttons for each active launch location. You can search by name or sail number, or filter by class or division, using the controls at the top of the page to find your boat quickly.

Signing Out — Departing the Dock

Find your boat in the list. In the sign-out column for your launch location, click the red Depart button. A confirmation dialog will appear showing your boat name, sail number, and location — confirm that the details are correct, then click Confirm to record your departure.

Once recorded, your departure time appears in the column as an amber timestamp. The Depart button is replaced by the timestamp, indicating that your sign-out has been recorded. If you signed out in error, notify an official — they can correct the record from the Event Panel.

Signing Back In — Returning to the Dock

When you return to the venue, go back to the Launch Sign-Out/Sign-In page and find your boat in the list. Click the green Return button in your launch location column. A confirmation dialog will appear — confirm and click Confirm to record your return.

Your return time will appear as a green timestamp in the column. If your event has multiple launch locations, you can depart from one location and return to a different one — each location has its own Depart and Return buttons in your row.

Status Messages and What They Mean

The buttons in the launch list change depending on the current status of the launch entry for that day. Here is what you may see:

  • Depart button (red) — the launch is active and you have not yet signed out. Click to record your departure.
  • Amber timestamp — you have signed out. Your departure time is recorded.
  • Return button (green) — you have signed out and the launch is still active. Click to record your return.
  • Green timestamp — you have signed back in. Your return time is recorded.
  • Pending — the launch session is visible but not yet open for sign-out. Wait until it becomes active.
  • Inactive — the launch session has been deactivated by race officials. Contact an official if you need assistance.
  • Event Check-In Pending — the event requires check-in and you have not yet checked in. Complete your event check-in first before signing out on the launch.
