What Equipment Substitutions Does

Equipment Substitutions provides an electronic workflow for competitors to request permission to use substitute or replacement equipment — sails, spars, or other gear — and for the technical committee to review and respond. The process mirrors crew substitutions: submissions are numbered and logged, all parties are notified automatically, and the full list is available on a public display page.

Enabling and Submitting

Enable Equipment Substitutions by editing your event and selecting Equipment Substitutions in Event Settings. Once enabled, competitors can access the submission form from the Actions menu on the public event pages without signing in. They describe the equipment to be substituted, the replacement, and the reason. The technical committee is notified by email when a request is submitted.

Reviewing and Responding

Officials access all equipment substitution requests from the Equipment Substitutions page in the Event Panel. Open any request to see the full details and enter a response. The competitor is notified by email and SMS when the technical committee responds. Approved, denied, and conditional responses are all recorded in the log and visible on the public display page.
