The best thing about Xmas is Boxing Day in Sydney for the start of the Sydney to Hobart race. This is the 20th Anniversary of the infamous 1998 race when sailors lost their lives and after which many changes were made to safety requirements in communication including of weather forecasts, training, equipment, procedures, crew makeup, crew qualifications and the like. We remember those who lost their lives and thank those who were involved in the dramatic rescues of so many in horrendous conditions.
